In the age of instant messaging there still many people who
have the answering machine. There are ways to leave a
message. You can use this as a follow up on a previous call.
You can also use this to stimulate a sale. When you are not
able to have a two way conversation leave a message. Here's
how.
1. Always be prepared with what you are going to say.It
should not sound rehearsed or like your reading from a
script. Show confidence in your voice.
2. The tone and clarity of your voice is important. Smiling
while your calling comes across.
3. Listen to how you sound on your own recorder. Think of
the reasons why you called someone back.
4. Utilize short phrases.
5.Your voice mail should be prepared to last no more than
60-90 seconds.
6. The most important information first, you need to attract
their attention to keep listening.
7.Keep to the basics.
8. Repeat your name and telephone number twice, clearly in a
normal pattern without being too fast or too slow. Let it be
you.
9. Explain why you are calling. "We meet in church and I
wanted to give you that special sale we were talking
about".This may help with remembering who you are if you can
associate it with a place or event.
10. Give them a reason to return the call.
So many people are using I/M, PDA's, anything but a two way
conversation. Call me old fashion but I still like to hear
the sound of someone voice, even if it's a recording
