After spending 22 years in the Public Sector
with the Department for Constitutional Affairs [DCA], Rob
moved to the Voluntary Sector to lead a UK-wide scheme aimed
at delivering a community led approach to greater equity for
all. Rob is a qualified Development Trainer, Recruitment
Interviewer and JEGs 'Job' Evaluator.
Rob joined the DCA [then Lord Chancellor's Department - LCD]
in 1983 and, after spending eight years working in the local
County Court [Civil Law] in the London Borough of Brent, Rob
transferred to the Department's Regional Office where he
worked as an I.T. Liaison Officer. Rob then relocated to
LCD's HQ Office where he enjoyed a 13 month stay working
with the Magistrates Courts [Criminal Law] Management
Information System and assisting with responses to
Parliamentary Questions. In November 1994 Rob gained
promotion and returned to an operational post at Willesden
County Court where he worked as a Deputy Court Manager.
In November of 1998 Rob returned to Headquarters after he
successfully applied for the post of Development Trainer in
Corporate HR. Rob studied part time at the Civil Service
College and in May 2000 was awarded the CiPD's Certificate
in Training Practice. Rob went on to facilitate Departmental
development activities in Leadership, Motivation and
Diversity for first, middle and senior managers throughout
England & Wales.
In May 2001 Rob was invited to spearhead efforts to launch
the Department?s first corporate staff network in support of
ethnic minority staff, namely PROUD. During the same year,
Rob became the first elected Chair of the Civil Service Race
Equality Network [CSREN] which continues to be sponsored by
the Head of the Home Civil Service.
In August 2004, Rob joined the DCA's Corporate Diversity
Team as a Project Leader and Policy Advisor. Rob wrote the
DCA's first Corporate Project Plan dedicated to developing
more diverse Policy & Strategy.
In February 2005 Rob won a secondment, via the DTi, to lead
a UK-wide Community Leadership Scheme as part of the
Government's work in progressing the Equality Bill and a
single equalities board i.e. the Commission for Equality and
Human Rights [CEHR]. Rob is currently located at The 1990
Trust where, having recently returned from attending the
Reverend Jesse Jackson's Rainbow-PUSH Coalition's 34th
Annual Conference in Chicago, USA, Rob is now assisting with
plans to launch 'PUSH-UK' i.e. a UK-wide Black alliance.
Rob also served as the elected Vice Chair of the National
Coalition of Black Led-Organisations [www.ncblo.co.uk] for a
full one year tenure in 2004-05. The NCbLO is an umbrella
network made up of leaders from Black-led networks,
organisations and staff associations, which meet bi-monthly
to share effective practice and promote the Black
professionals perspective across the UK.
Rob sits as a Trustee on two Boards. One is a national
organisation working in support of family relationships and
the other is a community based charity committed to
empowering young people in their journey from education to
employment.
Rob is married to Donna and they live happily in Harrow with
their two children, Rhianne [12] and Joshua [8].
