Irene Roele works independently as a lecturer and
consultant in strategic management and marketing. She
supports managers in tackling the complex challenges facing
them. Through teaching, facilitation and consultancy, she
helps individuals and organisations make constructive links
between 'thinking', 'planning' and 'doing' - in other words,
between theory and practice and between policy and action.
Her expertise is in developing strategic thinking skills:
helping individuals or teams to develop a vision of the
future, link this to meaningful objectives and translate
this vision and objectives into results.
Irene's clients range from international private sector
companies (including Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard and
Poors Europe and Ernst & Young) to public sector bodies
(such as Croydon Social Services) and Business Start-Ups and
SMEs on behalf of MAS (DTI's manufacturing advisory
service), the Booksellers' Association and the National
Trainers Federation (horse-racing). Her custom-made courses
range from training seminars for large groups to individual
consultancy and mentoring.
Until August 2006, she was programme leader for the MSc in
Financial Services Regulation and Compliance Management at
London Metropolitan University where she was also subject
leader in Strategic Management and lecturer on the Chartered
Institute of Marketing post-graduate diploma programme for
the Department of Management and Professional Development.
She continues to be involved with the University as a
visiting lecturer including involvement in the Forward at 50
project - a programme specifically designed for women over
50 embarking on self employment and starting up their own
businesses. She is also visiting lecturer on a range of
postgraduate programmes at MIRBIS (Moscow International
Business School). Irene devised and runs the marketing
module for City University's Department for Education and
Lifelong Learning which delivers management programmes to a
variety of organisations including BMI General Healthcare
Group.
Irene has a BA from the European Business School, London and
an MA in Marketing from Kingston University. Her research
interest is in organizational sense making in the context of
bringing products to market. She is a member of the
Strategic Planning Society. She is bi-lingual in English and
Dutch and speaks German fluently.
